Mission Work
South Central Jamaica-Dr. MillerDr. Miller made his first mission trip to Mexico while still a student in 1990. In 2001 he made his first of nine trips to the Mandeville area of South Central Jamaica. His wife Diana has accompanied him on all the trips and has been extremely helpful in organizing the clinics in Jamaica and shipping eyeglasses back to Jamaica. Jill, an EyeCare Center optician has had the duty of making and coordinating the production of all the eyeglass orders from the trips. No small task. Dr Miller's oldest daughter made the trip in 2008 and was joined with her sister and 4 more high school girls on our trip in Dec 2009-Jan 2010. Other trips were made in 2012, 16,17 and 20. These trips have been made in conjunction with Helping Hands, an ecumenical mission group based out of St. Matthew Church of Wausau. This gives a day or two each trip to work on other projects. Most often the building of a house. This group is always looking for good people to join them on mission trips and prepare items of need here in Central Wisconsin. Please contact Dr. Miller if you are interested.
Honduras & Mexico-Dr. Sanders
Dr. Sanders has participated in two vision mission trips. Her first trip took her to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, in 2005, while she was in optometry school. In April of 2009, Dr. Sanders traveled to Cuidad Obregon, Mexico, to participate in a vision mission trip. She found both of these missions to be fun and rewarding, and plans to participate in future missions within the next few years.
